Founded in 1975, the British Association for Canadian Studies (BACS) functions as a forum and meeting point for Canadian Studies in the United Kingdom. It is open to everyone who has an interest in Canada, and it holds an annual conference that combines a wide range of topics and distinguished speakers with an informal and friendly atmosphere.
BACS is responsible for the British Journal of Canadian Studies, which is currently edited by Professor Maeve Conrick, University College Dublin.
BACS administers a number of awards in the field of Canadian Studies, including the Prix de la Délégation générale du Québec à Londres.
BACS is also one of the member associations of the International Council for Canadian Studies, of which it was a founder member in 1981.
